You can use text edit comments in a PDF to indicate where text should be edited in the source file. Text edit comments do not change the actual text in the PDF. Instead, they indicate which text should be deleted, inserted, or replaced in the source file from which the PDF was created.

In Reader, completecommenting tools are available only in PDFs that have commentingenabled. PDFs in a review workflow typically include commenting rights.

Acrobat offers two basic methods to add text edit annotations: pre-select and post-select.

Pre-select or Text Correction Markup tool

Use the Select tool , or the Text Correction Markup tool and then right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) on the selected text to open a menu of text editing options. After marking the text, you can also click on a text edit tool.

Post-select

Click the text edit tool and then select the text.

In Acrobat for Windows,you can export text edits directly to the Microsoft Word documentthat the PDF is based on to revise the source document. To use thisfeature, you must use PDFMaker in Word to create the PDF. Beforeyou export your text edits, make sure that insertion comments usethe exact text, including spaces and paragraph returns, that you wantto add. If you add extra instructional words (such as 'Add the following:'), thesewords will have to be deleted manually from the Word document.

In AcrobatPro on Windows, you can export text edit comments directlyto an Autodesk AutoCAD document that thePDF is based on to incorporate your edits. To use this feature,you must use PDFMaker in AutoCAD to create the PDF.

Html Text Editor Online

Youcan use the Highlight Text tool, StrikethroughText tool, and the Underline Text toolto add comments by themselves or in conjunction with notes.

Youcan add a highlight with a note or you can cross out text or underlinetext by selecting the text using the Select tool, right-clicking,and then choosing that option from the menu that appears. However,if you're marking up a lot of text, the specialized tools are fasterand easier to use.

Choose Tools > Comment, and select the Highlight Text tool , the Strikethrough Text tool , or the Underline Text tool .

Note:

If you want to apply more than one comment usingthe Strikeout Text tool or the Underline Text tool,choose Keep Tool Selected from the Options menu after you selectthe tool. The Highlight Text tool stays selectedafter you make the first comment.

Drag from the beginning of the text you want to markup. Control-drag to mark up a rectangular area of text. This featureis especially useful when you are marking up text in a column.

(Optional) To add a note, double-click the markup andadd text in a pop-up note.

Note that you can also change the color of the highlighted text. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) on the highlighted text and click Properties to open the Highlight Properties dialog box, which will allow you to change the color.

In case if you need to delete the highlight on the text (without deleting the text), right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) on the highlighted text and click Delete.

From the Tools Comment toolbar, select Add Note to Replace Text.

Select the text. Any selected text is crossed out anda pop-up note opens.

• Type the text to be inserted or added.The insertion caret appears.

• To indicate that a new paragraph should be added,press Enter, and then close the pop-up note without adding text.The paragraph insertion caret appears.

From the Tools Comment toolbar, select the Insert Text at Cursor tool .

Click between the words or characters where you wantto insert text.

• Type the text you want to insert.

• To indicate that a space should be added, press the spacebar, and then close the pop-up note without adding text. The space insertion caret appears.

Note:

You can also indicate text edits by using the Select tool to select text, right-click the selected text, and then choose a text edit annotation.

From Tools > Comment toolbar, choose the Strikethrough tool .

Note:

If markup comments are stacked,delete the comments in the Comments list: Choose Comment > CommentsList, select the comment, and press Delete.

Apps and features that use Markup

Here are some apps that you can use with Markup and steps to get started:

Mail

1. Open Mail and tap the compose button to start a new email. Or reply to an existing email.
2. Tap inside the body of your email, then tap or tap Return to open the format bar. You can also tap inside your email, then tap the cursor and select Insert Photo or Video or Add Attachment. You might need to tap the arrow button to scroll through the options.
3. Tap the camera button or the document button , then look for the photo or PDF that you want to attach and mark up.

Messages

1. Open Messages and tap the compose button to start a new conversation. Or go to an existing conversation.
2. Tap the photos button and select a photo.
3. Tap the photo in the message, then tap Markup. From here, you can add a sketch to the photo, or tap the plus button for other Markup options.
4. Tap Save, then tap Done.
5. Tap the blue arrow to send.

Photos

1. Go to Photos and select the photo you want.
2. Tap Edit, tap , then tap Markup . Tap the plus button to add text, shapes, and more.
3. Tap Done, then tap Done again.

Draw with Markup

After you choose a Markup tool, like the pen , highlighter , or pencil , select a color and start drawing. Tap the same tool again to change the color opacity, or tap another tool to change the thickness. You can also tap the color button to change color shades.

Move a drawing

After you draw something, you can move it around. Tap the Lasso tool, trace a circle around the drawing that you want to move, then drag it where you want it.

Erase or undo a drawing

To redo a drawing, tap the eraser button and rub your finger across the area you want to erase. You can also undo any markup action by using the undo button . If you accidentally undo a markup, you can shake your device and tap Redo.

Add text, a signature, magnifier, and shapes

Tap the plus button to choose from other Markup tools:

Tap the circle to choose a different text color, then tap to adjust the font, size, and alignment.

Drag the loupe around, use the blue dot to adjust the size, and the green dot to increase or decrease the magnification level.

Tap a shape to add it to your screenshot, photo, or PDF. Drag the shape to where you want it and use the blue dots to adjust the size and shape. Use the green dots to adjust the arrow's curve and the speech bubble's appearance.
